Kim
Jordan Millon was born in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands went to Edgbaston
High and the University of Exeter, where she completed a Combined Honours
degree in English and Fine Art. Marc and Kim first met at the University
of Exeter when Marc came over on an exchange program from Kenyon College,
Gambier, Ohio where he was completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in English
Literature. The couple have remained in the area and have lived and
worked in Topsham ever since.
Marc and
Kim have always had a passionate interest in both food and wine. In
1979 they embarked on their first major European wine tour, a trip that
took them to all the classic wine regions of Europe, even as far as
Hungary and Bulgaria, exploring historic old wine cellars, learning
about and tasting local and regional foods, and most of all meeting,
interviewing and photographing the people of each region or country.

that time Marc and Kim Millon have written and illustrated the following

Marc and
Kim work together as a team, and this means that in their books photographic
illustrations always tie in intimately with editorially content
indeed, as projects evolve, both influence each other.
Kim Millon
is a recognized professional photographer in her own right; she is a
member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (LBIPP)
and was featured in a book, Food in Focus (Headline 1988), that
highlighted the work of the worlds finest food photographers.
Marc is
a member of The Circle of Wine Writers, The Guild of Food Writers, and
The Society of Authors. He has served as a member of the international
jury at the Concorso Internazionale at Vinitaly and is regularly invited
to attend and participate in wine events and competitions.
The Millon's
own electronic publishing company, Quay Press, specialises in food,
drink and travel publishing on the world wide web. Marc, who has an
MA in Publishing from the University of Plymouth, is a new media consultant
for corporate clients, involved in web site creation and design, content
management and editorial maintenance, and is also currently publishing
his own existing and new works electronically on the Quay Press website,
including Flavours of Korea and Notes
from a Devon Kitchen.
He is
also a keen -- some might say fanatic -- cyclist -- and organised and took part together with Italian restaurateur
Nello Ghezzo in the "Ride for
Life" cycle from Topsham to Venice, Italy in June 1997 which
raised over £24,000 for cancer research and treatment. He is also the organiser for the Nello Memorial Rides, the first of which is the Nello Memorial Century Cycle Challenge on July 2nd, 2000.
The research
for their winel food and travel books naturally means that Marc and
Kim are often on the road for much of the year, together with their two
children, Guy and Bella. But when not travelling, they enjoy life at
home on the River Exe at Topsham, Devon.
